Starting the Year Off on the Right Foot
The Dance Department began the school year with community-building activities to help new students acclimate and connect with our veteran dancers. During the second week, we held placement classes, allowing faculty and students to get acquainted while determining level placements in Ballet, Modern, and Contemporary techniques.
Donna Scheer Master Class
We were thrilled to have the fabulous Donna Scheer join the Dance Department for a Jazz Master Class. Mrs. Scheer, an experienced dancer, choreographer, and educator who splits her time between New York and New Mexico, worked with our dancers on jazz walks, stage style, and bringing personality to their performances.
Upcoming Master Class Workshops in Silver City
New Mexico School for the Arts is collaborating with the Conservatory of Dance in Silver City to offer two free master class workshops this October! Fernando Ramos Cintron, NMSA’s Dance Department Chair, will lead these sessions on Saturday, October 19th, with a class for younger dancers from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm, and a class for older dancers from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
